CULTURAL GENOCIDE OF A PEOPLE

Between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the sociopolitical events taking place in Eastern Europe, lead the heads of the Cossack State to establish successive military alliances. In different periods there were treaties with neighboring Poland, Muscovy, Moldova and also with the more distant Turkey and Sweden.
In many of these cases, pacts become intertwining interests and therefore ephemeral results; but in others, such as the one agreed in 1654, between the hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyj and the Moscow czar Nikolai, it results in disastrous consequences, because the penetration and subsequent Russian occupation of Ukraine begins there.
Already in the year 1589 the Metropolitan of Moscow, before the accretion created by the occupation of Constantinople by the Turks, proclaimed: "Patriarch of Moscow, the new Rome, city of the Tsar and all the Russias". This messianic embryo, based on the conception of the "third Rome" and linked to the Asian cultural assimilation, oriented to the conquest of peoples and territories, had total implementation and consequent execution.
In this brief chronology, by the way quite schematic and therefore incomplete, it is necessary to point out two periods: those that go from 1917 to 1920 at the time of the National Republic of Ukraine; and in truth, the one established by Lenin after 1922 called "Ukrainianization" and linked to the NEP, economic plan that sought to capture the sympathy of the Ukrainians, but that was diluted in a short time.
There was also in Western Ukraine, a period of domination by Poland, but in terms of time and in what it does to its consequences, little comparable to what meant and means Russian interference.
